It was very foggy (and a bit gusty) that weekend, but the range was still not bad 🙂

Antenna test
Yesterday, Leos flying wing and my ASW17 glider had mid-air-collision, so the plane we wanted to use for our antenna tests is broken at the moment.
I will order a new ASW17 (or a new wing for it) and Leo ordered a GPS module to upgrade an Hobby King E-OSD with GPS. After that, i will install FPV with E-OSD+GPS on the ASW17 and we can do the CP vs. Linear antenna tests.
Cam test
We finally got some ground-recordings from our different FPV cams.
Maybe we will record 1-2 more Flights for better comparison. I think we should get the test video online next weekend.
We tested: cheap 20$ ebay cam, GF-OSC HAD 500TVL, Securitycamera2000 Sony Super HAD II 500TVL, TBS69

Today i did the first 4 FPV flights with my new Dominator.
The two main aspects that i was frightened about when changing from the classic FatShark to the new Dominator were:
1. will the smaller image size be okay for me, or way too small?
2. will i get a good image, although i can not change the distance between the monitors/lenses?
Now i can answer that pretty easy:
1. Nope, it is big enough for me (thought it would be smaller)
2. Yes, i get a clear image, because the lenses are very different and so it is not necessary to change their distance (two of my buddies checked my Dominator as well and they were fine, although they use very different lense distances in their RCV922).
Now the pros and cons about the Dominator (compared to the normal Fatshark RCV922)
+ better built quality
+ rubber eye blocks are working better than the foam on the RCV922
+ great image quality (very sharp in every corner, amazing contrast and colors)
+ modules for 2.4 / 5.8 / HT available
– when i put the A/V plug 100% in the jack, i get no picture (it has to be put in ~90% to be in place correct
– smaller image size
I would buy the dominator again, if i had to choose between the RCV922 and the Dominator.

As my FatShark RCV922 5.8GHz aviator edition got a huge picture but it gets blurry at the edges, i decided to order a FatShark Dominator and give it a try.
The picture size will be smaller (46 FOV vs. 30 FOV), but the image quality should be better (sharper, better contrast and colors).
With a little bit of luck, the dominator will arrive this weekend, so i can tell you about my first impressions, soon.
